Where to Stay in Atlanta

Atlanta is a thriving, and fast-growing city in Georgia, United States. Home to historical stays, modern stays, and everything in the middle, we did all the research so you don’t have to. Below is a list of our favorite stays:

Our top choices for the luxury traveler:

#1: St Regis

$$$$

A sophisticated luxury hotel with inspiration from New York and Paris. The hotel is famed for its southern hospitality, spacious rooms, luxury amenities, and amazing views of the city. The hotel sits on the edge of the commercial area, not far from Buckhead. With onsite dining, a full spa, pool, fitness center, and more, this hotel has a lot to offer for the luxury traveler.

#1: (Tie) Four Seasons

$$$$

The Four Seasons is tied for #1 on this list as an amazing 5-star hotel in Midtown Atlanta. With award-winning cuisine, a full service spa, and luxurious amenities, the Four Seasons is an excellent choice for any type of traveler.

#2: Waldorf Astoria

$$$$

The Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead sits at a prime location on Peachtree Road, with amazing luxury accommodations, onsite-dining, a full fitness center, indoor pool, and spa services. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the rooms had modern finishes and touches. The hotel’s architecture is something out of a magazine, and the staff was very friendly. A solid choice for any traveler headed to Atlanta!

Our top choices for mid-tier stays:

#1 Loews Atlanta Hotel

$$$

This amazing hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, just a 10 minute walk to Piedmont Park. Featuring onsite dining, a modern fitness center, and spacious comfortable guest rooms. This is our top choice for the mid-tier range, and it has been a popular hotel for couples, and young-adult travelers.

#2: Hotel Indigo

$$$

Hotel Indigo, an IHG Hotel, is a cool new hotel in the heart of Atlanta, just a short walk from Centennial Olympic Park. All rooms are very modern, with high ceilings, comfortable beds, and nice bathrooms. For a mid-tier hotel, this is an excellent option. They also have an onsite bar, free wifi, and it has scored very well with couples.

#3: The Candler

$$$

Featuring a historic feel, with modern upgrades, The Candler (part of Hilton Hotels) is a cool hotel sitting just a 10 minute walk from the College Football Hall of Fame. The hotel features comfortable rooms, a fitness center, onsite dining, and a bar. Although not technically a boutique, the hotel certainly feels like one, and we really enjoyed our time there.

#3 (Tie): The Whitley

$$

Part of Marriott’s luxury arm, The Whitley is a solid option on our mid-tier list that feels like it should be on our luxury list. The hotel sits within walking distance of the Lenox Square Mall, and has numerous amenities including an indoor atrium pool. The hotel has been moving up on rankings over the years, and will likely move up on ours soon too.

Our top choices for budget-minded travelers:

#1: Glenn Hotel

$$

The Glenn hotel is an excellent boutique hotel, sitting at a premier location in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The hotel sits in a historic building, but has been renovated with modern finishes. For the price, it is a great option. Be sure to check prices before booking, this hotel does sell out at times, and prices can jump to mid-tier.

#2: The Westin

$$

Often available for under $150/ night (as of writing this) The Westin Buckhead Atlanta is an excellent option in our budget-friendly list. This hotel sits just a few minutes from popular Atlanta attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium, the Museum of Art, The Atlanta History Center, and Atlantic Station. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, but the entire hotel could certainly use a refresh (it feels like 2010 when you walk inside).

#3: Hyatt Regency

$$

Excellent hotel, and we really enjoyed our stay… that said, the hotel has mixed ratings online, which is why it lands at the bottom of our list. Again, we had a great experience here, and there is a reason we have it as a recommendation. The hotel features three onsite restaurants, including a rotating restaurant with city views which was super cool. The rooms themselves were nice and modern, and the beds were comfortable. If ratings continue to improve, we will likely bump this higher on our list in the future.
